Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 26, 2026

GoodbyeScreen ("the extension", "we", "us") is a browser extension that blurs websites you choose after you've spent a time limit on them. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles. The short version: everything stays on your device and we collect nothing.

We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. GoodbyeScreen has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics.

What the extension stores

To do its job, GoodbyeScreen saves the following on your own computer using the browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local):

This information never leaves your browser. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. If you uninstall the extension, this data is removed with it.

Information we do not collect

Permissions the extension uses

Chrome requires the extension to request certain permissions. Here's why each is needed:

Website icons

To show a small icon next to each site in the extension's list, GoodbyeScreen requests that icon from Google's public favicon service. This means the domain name of a site you've added (for example, reddit.com) is sent to Google solely to fetch its icon. No personal information is included in these requests. If you prefer, this is the only external request the extension makes, and it exists only to display icons.

Children's privacy

GoodbyeScreen is a general-purpose focus tool and is not directed at children under 13. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we collect none from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after a change means you accept the updated policy.
